Summer Fun Swap

Monday, July 23rd, 2007
Good Morning, All!

I am still in the midst of Harry Potter over here.
But in the meantime, I can show you photos of the goodies that I sent to my swap partner for the Yellow and Orange Summer Fun Swap hosted by the wonderful gals over at Sweet Goodness Swaps:

This basket was a great thrifted find!
It was originally a nursery basket that had a green gingham lining.
Using my trusty seam ripper, I took apart the lining and used the pieces as a pattern to create this new lining from yellow fabrics that I had in my stash.
I added rick rack to decorate.
I especially like the pockets : )

Here is the basket filled with goodies.

This little saucer was another thrifted find.
The flower pattern was mostly yellows and golds.
It fit well with the summer color theme.
The background of this photo is a sweet orange fabric with tiny white polka dots.
I included one yard of this (new) fabric and one yard of a (new) light yellow flower patterned fabric.

This little book was another fabulous and unexpected thrift store find.
(I did really well in the thrift store for this swap!)
It is a reproduction of (if I’m recalling correctly) a 1950’s children’s book.
I believe this copy is from the late 1970’s.

Here is one of the adorable illustrations.
(You can click on all of these photos to zoom.)

I also included a set of recipe cards that I made.
These are some of my favorite tried-and-true good eats!

Also included were three packages of rick-rack,
and a package of orange flavored cookies.

I had so much fun putting this basket together,
and hunting around for thrifted goodies!

Thanks so much to the Sweet Goodness Gals -
Rebecca, Lucy and Leigh Ann
for organizing this and encouraging us all to do some thrifting and make new friends! : )

Talk to you again real soon!
