“Over the river…

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

…and through the woods” is how the song goes.  But for us it was “Over the mid-west and through the air”, as we flew back to the east coast for a long overdue visit with family these last two weeks.

Josh and I and baby M spent almost two weeks visiting and socializing and going here and there in Pennsylvania and New York.  We were so busy – we could use a vacation!

The highlight of the trip for me was that, for the very first time, my little baby girl met my grandparents (her great-grandparents).  And that was one of the most wonderful, joyous times of my life.  They just couldn’t get enough of her.  They called her “Little Bits”.  I am weepy just thinking about it.  : )

We returned home with many treasured memories and lots of photos, as well as some unexpected gifts from family.

Here is one that I’d like to show you – I’ll have more to share as the days go by.

This is a crib quilt that either my grandmother or her sister hand made.

Grandma gave it to me, saying “Maybe you could teach Little Bits her animals?”

Dotty Kangaroo.

Plaid Puppy.

Dainty Donkey.

Gingham Elephant.

Flowery Kitten.

And I did finish those iPhone Cozies from my last post.

They are in my shop!

A Week of WIPs:

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I love to go to other people’s blogs and see what they are working on, right now, at the moment.  And since my blog has been sadly neglected lately, I thought I’d commit to sharing a full week of WIPs to show what I’ve got going on over here.

Notice that it’s Tuesday?  Yeah…. well, doing the WIP post turned into a wip yesterday – Ha!  So today I’ll post two wips to make up for Monday.

(That’s me for ya.)

So anyway, here are my wips for Monday and Tuesday:

Wip1

A flurry of hand embroidered snowmen!

wip2

These will eventually become Christmas ornaments, that I will sell in my Etsy shop.

wip3

wip4

And here is a whole wardrobe full of little embroidered coats (or blouses if you like).  These will become needlebooks, also destined for my shop.  I hope to have alot of these done in time for the holiday shopping rush.

Wish me luck!

Fly busy little hands!

There’s still so much to finish!

Wednesday!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Wow – this week seems to be flying by.  It’s already half over, tonight is a new Lost episode, and somebody will be leaving American Idol.  Whew!

Josh and I took a trip over to Bainbridge Island Wa this past weekend.  We lucked out and had a very sunny day.  We took the car over on the ferry and visited new friends at their beautiful home.  It was such a nice day trip – I’d like to go back again soon and visit all the little shops there.

I was so preoccupied with the gorgeous weather and our new friends that I forgot to take any photos while we were there.  But I did get this one of Josh on the ferry.  Can you tell we were having a great day? : )

I want to send out a big thank you to Liz over at LavenderLizard for including my little orange needlebook in her latest blog post.  Thank you, Liz!  If you love great Etsy finds like I do – I hope you’ll take a gander at Liz’s fun collection.

This morning I did a big shop update…well, big for me anyway. : )

Cute and Smart. Art.

I’ve got a brand new Project Tote.

Cute and Smart. Art.

And a matching needlebook.

And something a little different…

Cute and Smart. Art.

The other day I made up this tasket prototype.  This one is quite a bit bigger than my usual taskets.  I used linen (reinforced with fusible fleece) and this new Japanese canvas I just got from Superbuzzy.  Over all I’m very happy with how this new design turned out.  I think there’ll be some larger taskets in the shop soon.

This one does have some slight puckering of the lining at the back, but all-in-all it’s sturdy, roomy and cute.

Since it’s a prototype, I’m offering it at the same price as the smaller version, even though it’s quite a bit bigger.

So if you like a good sale and need a cute place to store some fabric bundles, knitting supplies etc… I hope you’ll give this tasket a home!

Sold – and on it’s way to NV.

Have a great day, everybody!

Oh, Reba!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Sorry, folks.
Reba had a few too many $0.10 cokes recently
and didn’t make it to her photo shoot last night.
Never fear though, the next installment of Lake Resort Nurse will be here tomorrow!

***********************************************************

Thanks to everyone for your nice comments on my last post.
I am so happy to have those two bags in my shop.
They were very fun to make and alot of love went into them.
I wish you could feel how soft and yet sturdy they are.

Yesterday I almost completely ignored my To-Do list and instead,
I spent most of the day making new business card wallets.

Then I sat down to embroider some hedgehogs and found that I was
almost completely out of brown embroidery floss. So this morning,
with fist full of 40% off coupons, I raided Joanns and stocked up.

My shop recently received its 1000th heart from a kind fellow Etsyian!
Yay! Thank you to everyone who has “hearted” my store : )

And I will soon be reaching my 200th blog post.
So, I guess I’ll have to go through my fabric stash and get ready for a give away!
Be on the lookout for that – I think another 5 posts should do it.

Hope you’re all having a terrific day!

Don’t forget the season finale of Project Runway is on tonight!!!

Cheers!

If You Like to Sew…

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Do you have a space devoted to sewing? Could it use a little bit of decoration?

The walls of my studio are alittle bare and every once in awhile I look up and think: “So much creativity happens here – how come there isn’t more artwork on the walls?”

Well, thanks in part to Etsy and the fabulous artists I’ve discovered there, I am slowly adding decorations to my space.

My latest find is this beautiful print that I purchased from Emmy’s Etsy shop called Emmalynne. Aren’t the colors gorgeous? She has a couple other sewing themed prints for sale and if you click on her profile you can see the different print sizes that she offers. I chose a 5 x 7 print to hang in my studio.

So – if you could use a bit of cheerful color in your creative space – take a peek at Emmy’s shop – and say “Hello” from me! : )
