Thanksgiving and…
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009… a message to Paula Deen.
Hello!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Our plans fell through when our friends called to say that they had the flu. We decided to keep Madeline at home, so we celebrated with a quick roasted chicken, just the three of us.
I hope to have photos of our newly renovated upstairs, soon. We have a few minor things to finish up and we’ll finally be done (we started this renovation all the way back in June!) I’ve started slowly moving my studio upstairs, out of the dark, depressing basement (did you hear the champagne pop?) and we’ve already spent a few nights in our new bedroom.
Madeline keeps me very busy, but she and I are working out a routine, and I’m getting better at multi-tasking and doing things one handed. I have a new respect for all you moms out there – this really is the toughest of jobs.
I have very little reading time lately, but I try to do a little here and there, while I’m feeding the baby. One of my recent reads, is this issue of Food Network Magazine that my friend Christina sent me.
It has several recipes that I’d like to try, some great gadget ideas and lots of delicious photos. I read it straight through and then set it aside, in a spot where I see it every day…
… and the more I look at it, the more I chuckle and think to myself:

My great grandmother had a silver Christmas tree that spun around and had four different colored lights that shined on it. I’m pretty sure it was made before lead testing was popular.
You should find a new stylist.

Saturday, May 9th, 2009Well, readers, if you haven’t already figured it out,
our regularly scheduled Two Spoonfuls post has been delayed this week.
My foodie partner is neck deep in boxes, so we’ll skip this week and will post again on the 22nd.

We’re enjoying a lovely sunny day here.
Josh is out for a bike ride with the guys and I’m going back and forth between the kitchen and my studio. Yesterday I was inspired to start a new project for my shop, after receiving the latest issue of my favorite Japanese craft magazine: Cotton Time. (I’ve been stalking Superbuzzy like crazy waiting for the new issue to arrive!)
I had to get just a bit of this Matryoshka linen blend, too.
Last night I collected my scraps of Japanese linen and canvas fabrics,
gave them a good wash and ironing, and started cutting.
I’ll have more photos of what I’ve got in mind for them as I get more done.
In the meantime – here are some photos from Cotton Time that might inspire you:

Isn’t this purse pretty? I’d be afraid to spoil it by using it.

A Few Good Things…

I love this time of year!
The colors, the foods, the weather, the clothes…you name it.
This is the time of the year when I most enjoy cooking.
Going for a long walk outside with my scarf whipping around my neck.
Sitting in a comfy chair reading a book, with a cat on my lap.
Today’s mail brought a General Foods International Coffee Pumpkin Spice flavor from the wonderful Katie! Thank you, Katie!
With typical Katie flair, the tin came wrapped in fabric and tied with ribbon!
I made up a little cup and Josh and I both tried it and agreed – it’s delicious!
Your wool and goodies will be in the mail on Monday, Katie! : )

Another thing I like about this time of year is the cooking magazines.
Infact, I have a hard time not buying the Thanksgiving issues of all the magazines.
I always tell myself that I don’t need another one…
…and then I’m standing in line at the grocery checkout,
…mesmerized by the cover photo,
…. and then my stomach grumbles,
… and I buy it.
Does that ever happen to you?

My favorite pair of shoes.
They are Kenneth Cole and have a cute little heel.
I bought them years ago.
I don’t know why I felt compelled to post a photo of them.
Maybe because I love them to pieces and since I wear them any chance I get,
they deserve a mention.

Quiltmaker & Lambmaker

Well, I promised exciting news in my last post and here it is (very exciting to me):
one of my pincushion & sewing book sets has been included in the September/October issue of Quiltmaker Magazine (page #56)! Yay!
I made a trip over to Pacific Fabrics last night to stock up on sage green thread and there was the issue in the store. The nice folks at Quiltmaker have mailed me a copy and it’s on it’s way, but this was the first time I had seen it in person. I was so excited I told the clerk while I was checking out and she politely fussed over it. But when another customer came over to stand behind me and the clerk said “Look at this magazine – she’s in it, we have a celebrity in the house.”
I was completely embarrassed and practically ran out of there……
….which was probably for the best. I can’t have the paparazzi following me home!
; ) So, that’s been a bit of excitement over here.
And then, this morning my sweet friends Christina and Maia let me know that my Etsy shop has been mentioned on Indie Fixx!
Wow! That is so cool!
So a big “Thank You!” goes out to the great people at

I did have the foresight to make more of the pincushion/sewing book sets that are in the magazine. At the moment I am out of the little bee charms that I used on the pincushion. So I have three that I’ll be listing in my shop today.
For those of you following my lamb plushie crusade, here’s the latest installment:
I made another mock-up the other day.
You’ll notice that this one is… well, blue.
That’s because I didn’t want to use any more of the fuzzy fabric that I’m saving for the final ones. So instead, I used this blue fabric that I had.
Josh took one look at this one and said:
“It looks like he’s been shorn and he’s blue because he’s cold!”
Haha! Poor little lamb.
Had to share a shot of that cute lamb tail!
So now I am ready to start working on the little quilts that will go with the lamb.
I will be doing ALOT of fabric cutting today.
The quilts will be about 12″ x 12″ 10″ x 10″ when they’re done.
But first, a trip to the post office, grocery store and possibly the coffee shop!
