I’m ahead! I’m ahead!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

So I was at the grocery store today and the clerks were passing out fortune cookies to celebrate Chinese New Year.  I’ve just Googled Chinese New Year 2010 and so far everything I’ve read says that on the western calendar it begins on February 14th (Year of the Tiger). Today is the 5th….

…so, thanks to the local grocery store I am finally ahead of the game on something!

Hurrah!!

I still have Christmas gifts to mail, but by God, I’ve got the Chinese New Year covered!

What, you guys haven’t celebrated yet?  Well, GET ON IT!

Martha Stewart and I will be sitting back with a cup of tea.

(Cause I imagine that Martha probably has the next 10 Chinese New Years all mapped out already.)

Happy Chinese New Year to you all!

Happy (Belated) Holidays!

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Hmm…

I thought the holidays were busy BEFORE I had a baby!

Good Lord – I still have Christmas presents to wrap!

But, I did manage to get one crafty Christmas project finished…

…finished at 11:59 pm Christmas night…

…but finished nonetheless.

I wish you all a wonderful 2010!

(P.S. I got this stocking pattern from Martha Stewart.  I added the embroidered names and substituted French knots for sequins.  I am very happy with the results, but I found the sizing of this pattern was a bit wonky (how does Martha let that happen??) and cutting out the felt for the cuffs was a bit tedious… but, as most Martha projects come with some ultra time-consuming component, this wasn’t a surprise, and I think it was worth the effort in the end.)

A Week of WIPs:

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I love to go to other people’s blogs and see what they are working on, right now, at the moment.  And since my blog has been sadly neglected lately, I thought I’d commit to sharing a full week of WIPs to show what I’ve got going on over here.

Notice that it’s Tuesday?  Yeah…. well, doing the WIP post turned into a wip yesterday – Ha!  So today I’ll post two wips to make up for Monday.

(That’s me for ya.)

So anyway, here are my wips for Monday and Tuesday:

Wip1

A flurry of hand embroidered snowmen!

These will eventually become Christmas ornaments, that I will sell in my Etsy shop.

wip3

wip4

And here is a whole wardrobe full of little embroidered coats (or blouses if you like).  These will become needlebooks, also destined for my shop.  I hope to have alot of these done in time for the holiday shopping rush.

Wish me luck!

Fly busy little hands!

There’s still so much to finish!

Done!

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

We had a noisy, fun 4th of July here.

Josh and I could see and hear fireworks from our back deck,

and just as they were winding down, there was a late night parade

one street over from our house!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend : )

I can cross sewing these little house ornaments off of my To-Do list.

Cute and Smart. Art.

I’ve finished sewing together 6 sets of 5.

I used tiny pieces of felt, wool and shimmery ribbon to make these.

They measure about 2 1/4″ wide x 2 1/2″ tall (about 5″ with the ribbon).

They are each hand embroidered.

I also finished up 2 sets of my snowmen ornaments.

(I love making these!)

I’ll tuck them all away for the holiday season later this year : )

(Anyone starting their Christmas shopping early -

just let me know and I’ll be happy to put a set in my shop!)

I was experimenting on the sewing machine the other day.

Eventually I’d like to make a set of fabric angel ornaments for the holidays…

… needless to say, I’m not quite there yet.

Ha!

(P.S. To my friend Denise, I hope that you feel better very, very soon!)
